Garage Door Options
Garage doors come in four different basic materials: metal, composite, wood and vinyl. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Garage Doors by Rick Mignone offers a wide variety of garage door options and styles in each material, and we can accommodate any size garage door. We can help you decide which material and style will work best to fit your needs and give you the look you want.
Metal garage doors are usually made of steel or aluminum. We typically suggest steel and offer many styles in both our Basic and Premium steel garage door lines. Basic steel garage doors are a great value, with a wide variety of styles available even at the lowest price. Premium steel garage doors are among the strongest and most energy-efficient garage doors you can get.
Composite garage doors are easily color-customizable. They are more dent-resistant than metal doors. They are also quite heavy, so the right hardware is important. Composite garage doors can take a lot of abuse, so are a popular choice for families with kids who play sports and practice in the driveway.
Many garage doors that are not wood are made to look like wood. But if you want the real article, nothing else will do. We carry numerous styles and sizes of stock doors and can also custom make your wood garage door to your specifications. This is particularly important if you live in a historic district and need to achieve, maintain or restore a particular period look.
Vinyl is another popular choice for active families that would like to avoid denting their garage doors with toys, balls or other sports equipment. Vinyl garage doors are less likely than steel garage doors to dent or rust, as their steel frames are protected by layers of rust-proof vinyl.
